Pristine Sound and Durability

DPA Microphones's d:fine™ CORE 4066 (DPA-4066OAF00LH) is a beige colored flexible miniature omnidirectional microphone solution that features fast, easy adjustment possibilities. This model has a Microdot Connector and requires an additional adapter for your specific wireless system. The d:fine™ CORE 4066 robust microphone provides a 14 dB increase in dynamic range when compared with DPA's Legacy mic, and it has an IP58 rating - demonstrating exceptional durability. The headband construction is unique in design, allowing your preference between left and/or right mounting of the mic and boom. The 4066 offers clean, transparent sound quality with lots of headroom. It uses a pre-polarized omnidirectional cartridge element with a 5.4mm vertical diaphragm. It is specially designed for maximum performance and comfort given the often difficult conditions of mounting directly on the human body. A double vent protection system, a drop stopper on the tube, and water resistant materials inside the microphone reduce humidity problems (and frequent microphone failure). The headband surface is mat gold plated, and headband ear hooks are covered with a silicon hose.

Features:

  • Resistant To Humidity
  • Double-Vent Protection System
  • Available In Three Colors And Three Sizes
  • Modular Adapter System Fits Most Professional Wireless Systems
  • IP58 Certified

First of all - yes, this seems expensive compared to other mics. But you get what you pay for. Why should you spend the money for this one? Because it sounds awesome! Meaning it sounds natural and very flat. You'll have way less problem with feed back and ringing. Not just because it's a headworn, but because of the tonality (frequency response). It doesn't have the resonances that other type mics have which means they don't give you feedback problems.

Also, omni is fine for headworn. If you use a directional that close to the mouth, you're inviting low end problems. Plus you have to make sure they ALWAYS have a directional pointed the right way. I use cardis on pretty much everything else, but for this application, give me an omni.

Lastly, 2 ear hooks is better than 1. It just stays put way better.

The one down side to this mic is the lack of being able to adjust the position easily. Be careful, but you can bend the boom arm enough to get it where you need, but don't plan on doing that every week. This is best used by your main speakers and leave it set for them.
