The M179 by CAD Audio is a variable-pattern side address microphone designed for professional recording and broadcast applications. Features highspeed, low noise, low distortion electronics in a vintage capsule design with the dual pattern version of the original equitek e-300 capsule in an externally biased capsule with gold sputtered 1.1" diaphragm.

    Features:

  • Continuously variable pattern with a "hard" cardioid center detent
  • Large 1.1" dual diaphragm external bias condenser capsule
  • Gold sputtered diaphragm
  • High SPL capability (143 dB SPL with pad)
  • Transformerless balanced output circuits
  • 20 dB non-capacitive pad
  • 6dB/Octave @ 100Hz high-pass filter
  • Stainless steel internal pop/EMI filter
Applications for the CAD CAD-M179
  • Choir Microphone
    • Mount the mics on tall boom stands in front of the choir. This always works best with a stage riser. Use 3 or 4 M179 mics for a small to mid sized choir of 12 to 24 members. See more about miking a choir.

  • Acoustic Guitar Microphone
    • Mount the M179 on a boom stand and position @ the 12th fret and aim back toward the sound hole. You may need to use an equalizer to remove some of the low mid frequencies to taste and watch the gain if using live.

  • Instrument Microphone
    • Mount the M179 on a boom stand and position near the source, since this mic has a variable pattern you can experiment with placement and pattern to achieve the desired results.

  • Small Vocal Ensemble Microphone/s
    • Mount (1) M179 for mono or (2) for stereo (or more mono coverage) on stands in front of the group.
