Description Application Specifications

Audio-Technica's U853R is a hanging condenser microphone that is designed for overhead miking applications such as church choirs, instrumental groups, or theater stages. It's low-profile, unobtrusive appearance means that it will easily blend in with its surroundings, so you don't have to worry about it getting in the way or causing a distraction. The U853R features a cardioid polar pattern with a smooth and natural-sounding on-axis response, while also offering superior off-axis rejection to prevent unwanted noise from degrading its sound quality.

This microphone comes equipped with Audio-Technica's UniSteep® filter, which provides a steep filter that rolls off low-frequency content to improve voice intelligibility without affecting voice quality. No worries of muddy audio quality when using the U853R, simply flip on the UniSteep filter and you're set to go.

Applications for the Audio-Technica AT-U853R

Choir Microphone
- Hang the U853R above the choir. This always works best with a stage riser. Use 3 or 4 hanging mics for a small to mid sized choir of 12 to 24 members and add more where necessary. See more about miking a choir.
Theatre Microphone
- Hang mics where necessary to pick up the dialog, the feedback rejection will help in this application.
