This is my preferred entry level product when introducing clients to in-ear monitoring. It delivers a pristine full range of sound while offering much better protection than regular store bought buds. If I can get a client to take this leap and enjoy it, I know that I have helped protect their hearing as well as shown them how to begin discerning good sound.

These are a great basic "pro" earbud. That is to say, they are way better than the standard earbuds that come with phones and devices. But of course, they're not as good as the models that cost quite a bit more.

The in-ear type provides good isolation from other noise. However, if you haven't used "in-ear" type before, it takes a little getting used to. Isolation from other noise also means you can't hear the audience and such.

I will say that the grey tips are pointless IMO. To get a good sound, you need to have a solid, tight fit *in* the ear. So the default black tips do a much better job. In fact, these sound even better if you get the optional yellow foam or my favorite, triple white flange tips.

Earbuds are about audio - how do they sound: These are fairly neutral. A bit of boost in the low end or maybe a little low in the high highs. These are good for any musician but probably best for keyboardists and other instruments looking for the full sound range. They are clear enough, but after using the sister se315 and up, I find the se215 highs to be a slight bit dull. And that gets to the point: for the price, these are great buds. There are other options in the class and it really depends on what flavor you like. You get what you pay for if you move up from the se215's. But as with most professional tools, the price increases exponentially for relatively slight increases in quality. So unless you've got a bigger budget, the se215's are a great place to start.
