Relay for life cancer walk

CCI Solutions Provides Audio Support for Local Fundraising Event to Fight Cancer

Relay For Life, a fundraising program of the American Cancer Society, is an annual event that takes place in various communities all over the country. This year CCI Solutions was asked to sponsor the local Relay For Life for Thurston County here in Washington State by providing the audio equipment and sound techs to support the entire event. CCI Solutions was pleased to provide five staff members and a van load of professional sound gear for the 24-hour event which took place this past June 27th and 28th.

The event is organized by local volunteers and features a 24-hour pledge walk to raise funds for the American Cancer Society for cancer cure research, prevention, detection/treatment and patient support. The Thurston County event was held at Black Hills High School on the sports field and track. Participants walked on the track for 24 hours and were encouraged and entertained by DJs from MIXX96, a local FM radio station and five different bands from the area.

CCI Solutions staffers under the direction of Jerry Lamb, Vice President and Retail Sales Manager, set up and ran sound for the entire event. The center piece of the sound system was a Mackie Onyx 24-4 mixing console. The audio from the stage was distributed to the field area and around the track via the main speakers from EAW (VR Series top boxes and subwoofers) and satellite speakers from Mackie (SRM450v2 and SRM350v2).

Jerry Lamb was very pleased with the operation of the system and had this to say about the Mackie Onyx console: "The Onyx 24-4 console was such a joy to work with. We had to set up and tear down for five bands with very little time between sets. The Onyx's controls and features were easy to find and use which helped us set up our main mixes and all of the various monitor mixes quickly." "We were very happy to be a part of this great cause" said Lamb. "This local event raised $337,000 to help fight cancer, and we are very glad to be able to have contributed to that accomplishment".
