Many live sound applications require the use of audio snakes. When you say audio snake you're probably thinking of a stage snake that runs from the front-of-house audio mixer to the stage and includes a stage box. The other types of snakes you'll find in nearly every aspect of performance sound are; insert snakes to connect signal processing to individual channels on the mixer, sub snakes to add to the main stage snake as an extension and interconnect snakes that help to organize the back of a rack and to connect rack gear to the main mixing console
