Day One

For the next two weeks I’m going to be on tour with Lincoln Brewster. Pretty cool, huh? Recently, we (CCI Solutions) did some design and install work at Bayside Church, where Linc leads worship. He was really pleased with our work and even more than that, he loved our people. So, he thought, why not ask CCI Solutions to be a part of the ‘Today is the Day’ tour. He asked, we agreed and here I am. I’ll be helping with set-up and tear down at every show. My main job is to get the projectors up and running and get them in alignment with each other. I will also be driving the 24’ equipment truck. Whenever... More >>

Day Two

Today started out just the way any good day should – we went out and bought coffee and bagels. Not all the crew went mind you, just Dave, Adam and I. Dave, that’s Dave Carr, is the lighting guy for this tour. He’s on staff at Bayside Church. Actually, the entire crew works or interns at Bayside. Yesterday we arrived at Family Community Church in San Jose. We spent several hours setting up but we didn’t finish. Today we finished setting up. After that was done I got to spend some time.. . Day Three

Every real tour has a few key elements and those are the band, the crew, the bus and the truck. On this tour I get to be part of the crew and I get to drive the truck. So last night (or more appropriately this morning at 5:00 AM) I was driving into Turlock and got lost. As soon as I got off the freeway I should have arrived at my destination in about ten-minutes but instead it took me close to an hour to find the theatre. After looking at a map, I realize I was driving in circles. I felt a bit like the Israelites going around the mountain and than I had a revelation ...More >>

Day Four

This morning we pulled into the Kern County Fairgrounds located in Bakersfield, CA. We got to the Pavillion stage, parked the vehicles and ate breakfast. Once our bellies were full we started setting-up. Today we had another great crew of day laborers. They were very helpful and worked really hard. Because we are driving at night my habit now seems to be drive the truck, get to the venue, set-up and go to sleep for a couple of hours before the show and tear down. Today, however, I had to postpone the... More >>

Day Five

Today I’m kind of excited about where we are because it’s only twenty minutes away from where I grew up. We are in Santa Clarita, CA (which happens to be the home of Six Flags Magic Mountain) at Grace Baptist Church. The group that is actually promoting the concert is Trinity Classical Academy. Today’s concert had two interesting aspects to it. First, the event was sold out. There was around 1000 attendees, 300 of which were 9-12 year olds (mostly girls). The kids started screaming during the first song and stopped when the show was over. It definitely made for an... More >>

Day Six

 image

It’s amazing how grumpy people turn magically happy after a good night sleep. Today we all woke-up around 9:00 AM. That means we got six solid hours of sleep. That’s the most sleep any of us have gotten at any one time this week. Once we were all awake we drove to some strip mall and had lunch. After that we hit the road and drove to Diamond Bar, CA. Next stop – Calvary Chapel Golden Springs. We weren’t in any kind of rush to get to Calvary Chapel since we aren’t doing a show tonight. We are not even doing... More >>
